Effective date: July 31, 2026
Strum&Sing uses your device microphone to support tuner and vocal pitch features. We also use Firebase Analytics to understand which parts of the app are useful and where the learning flow can be improved. If you choose to use Practice Circle, Firebase Authentication and Firestore are used to keep your private circle membership and shared wins working across devices.
Strum&Sing may access microphone audio only to analyze pitch and tuning in real time. Microphone audio is not recorded, stored, or sent to our servers.
Firebase Analytics may collect app usage events such as which tab or feature is opened, when a practice activity starts, completes, or is abandoned, approximate practice duration, selected song or practice mode identifiers, difficulty level, strumming pattern, audio route category such as speaker, wired, or bluetooth, and whether actions like hints, replay, song search, or score sharing are used.
Firebase may also collect technical information needed to provide analytics, such as app version, device type, operating system version, and an app instance identifier. We do not use Firebase Analytics to collect your name, email address, lyrics, microphone recordings, or the notes you sing as audio.
If you use Practice Circle, Strum&Sing stores your Firebase user identifier, Apple sign-in email if provided by Apple, your chosen circle display name, circle memberships, invite codes, shared practice wins, and reactions inside circles. Other circle members can see your chosen circle display name, shared wins, and reactions. Your Apple username and email are not shown to other circle members.
If you choose to use the in-app contact form, Strum&Sing stores the message you send, the request type, optional reply details you provide, and basic app/device details needed to understand the request.
Microphone audio is used to power tuning, pitch detection, and singing practice features on your device. Analytics events are used to understand app usage, improve lessons and practice flows, find confusing screens, and prioritize future improvements. Practice Circle data is used to let you create or join circles, share fixed practice wins, react to circle posts, and receive optional practice reminders. Contact form messages are used only to respond to feedback, song requests, support questions, or bug reports.
Strum&Sing does not sell your data. Microphone audio is intended to be processed on-device for app functionality. Analytics data is processed by Firebase/Google Analytics for Firebase according to their service terms and retention settings. Practice Circle account, membership, post, reaction, and contact form data is stored in Firebase services.
Strum&Sing uses Firebase Analytics, provided by Google, for app analytics. We do not share microphone audio with third parties for advertising or tracking, and the app does not show third-party ads.
You can disable microphone access at any time in iPhone Settings. Some tuner, pitch, and singing feedback features will not work without microphone access.
You can leave an individual Practice Circle from that circle's members screen. You can also delete your Practice Circle account in the Circle tab. This removes you from every circle, deletes circles where you are the only member, removes your shared wins and reactions from circle feeds, deletes your Circle profile, and signs you out.
If you have privacy questions, use the in-app contact form or visit strumandsing.co.uk.
